Association of Independent Producers in Finland (SATU ry) in brief

SATU ry is an organization representing the field of independent producers of audiovisual content in Finland. SATU ry aims to foster the business of its member enterprises by influencing the legislation, representing its members on administrative and communications political forums and increasing cooperation within the field. The organization also aims to develop copyright business conditions not only in Finland but also on the EU level together with its partner organizations. By finding new sources of finance SATU ry is also pursuing to advance its members’ export potential in the international market. Moreover, SATU ry contributes to educational development, interesting events and competitions targeted for its members and partners. SATU ry operates in close cooperation with several schools providing audiovisual schooling in Finland. SATU ry also negotiates on terms of delivery with Finnish TV channels and is committed to improve the position of independent producers in contract negotiations.

The most important annual events of SATU ry include

·        Media&Message, a competition and seminar event held annually in August; the event includes the Format Finlandia competition (“Formaatti-Finlandia”), an award of the best program format developed in Finland

·        Voitto - Finnish TV advertising competition (”Voitto – suomalainen mainoselokuvakilpailu”), held annually in March

·        Golden TV Awards (“Kultainen TV” -kilpailu), held in cooperation with Apu magazine, first held in January 2008
